Every fashion show consists of a few looks that turn heads on the red carpet. The theme of the Met Gala this year was “The Garden of Time,” based on the 2024 Metropolitan Museum of Art’s costume exhibit “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.”

Essentially, the dress code was inspired by historic pieces that had either been tucked away for some time, or never worn before. Many celebs stepped out in archived or vintage outfits consisting of floral and natural elements.

People like Nicki Minaj, Tory Burch, Uma Thurman and Gigi Hadid embraced the light and flowery elements of the theme,

while others such as Emma Chamberlin, Lana Del Rey, and Dua Lipa brought out the dark and decaying aspects of the short story by J.G. Ballard.

Zendaya also made her grand reappearance at the Met after 5 years away with not one, but two stunning outfits on the red carpet. The last Met Gala she attended was in 2019 for “Camp” but with her new movie “Challenger” being out in theatres, the press had been buzzing about whether or not the world’s favorites would be at the Met this year. Let’s just say, she delivered.

Wood corsets seemed to be a trend at this year’s Met Gala, as Taylor Russell and Aurora James both squeezed into dark oak to emphasize the natural element of the theme.

Likewise, Michelle Yeoh and Amanda Seyfried shared a similar look on the red carpet. I never would have imagined that I would have seen two people in… tin foil…? at the same event. Nonetheless, these looks were unique to say the least, and embrace what the Met Gala is really about: standing out.

In my mind, Demi Moore takes the cake on the red carpet this year, as she fully embraced the true meaning of the Met Gala in this eccentric number by Harris Reed and a never-before-worn 10 carat necklace by Cartier.

Some other honorable mentions that really stood out to me:

My favorite high-fashion event of the year has officially come to an end, so only 364 more days until its time to tune in again!
