If you live in the south and you’re looking for a fun getaway that is within driving distance, pack your cowgirl boots and cowboy hat and start driving to Nashville, Tennessee. Even if you aren’t from the south, I am sure you have heard of “The Music City”… the country music hub of the world. I can promise you won’t regret visiting Nashville and seeing all that there is to offer.

If you feel completely in the dark about what to do in this fun city, don’t worry! I have created a little itenerary for you. These are just a few of my favorite things to do and places to shop and eat in and around Nashville.

12th South

We stayed in an Airbnb on a little street in 12th South and everything was within walking distance… it was amazing! 12th South is mostly shopping with a few fun restaurants that are unique to the area of Nashville.

  • Draper James is Reese Witherspoon’s store located in 12th South in Nashville. It is all blue and white themed with a touch of southern charm.

  • Five Daughters Bakery is a donut and pastry shop that is not unique to Nashville, but is one of only a few locations.

  • Frothy Monkey is supposedly one of the most loved and acclaimed coffee shops in the whole area.

  • Finnley’s is my favorite boutique in Nashville! They have the cutest selection of graphic t-shirts and adorable, affordable clothes.

  • Urban Grub is more of an upscale restaurant, but still affordable for the area. I had the best crab and lobster cakes… heart eyes!

Broadway

  • Casa Rosa is Miranda Lambert’s Tex-Mex restaurant and bar in downtown Nashville. The menu is extremely broad — I had the roasted chicken quesadilla and it was amazing. But, what is even better than the food is the atmosphere at the restaurant. The theme is pink, black, and white, with neon signs covering the walls.

We mostly walked around Broadway, stopping in hat and boot shops while we were waiting for dinner, but for the older crowd, there are bars lining the street with live music in each one. It is the coolest atmosphere.

Downtown Franklin

Downtown Franklin has more of a small-town vibe compared to downtown Nashville. There is tons of shopping and walking around to do, and you will definitely get your steps in. I think I stopped in almost every store on the downtown strip.

The Gulch

  • Milk & Honey is a highly acclaimed breakfast venue in “The Gulch” in downtown Nashville. We had to wait 45 minutes to an hour, but it was totally worth it. They have a menu of specialty lattes, and you can’t go wrong with any type of coffee. I had chicken and waffles, an iconic southern breakfast meal, and it was amazing.

There is also lots of shopping to do in The Gulch, so if you are waiting on your table at Milk & Honey, you won’t be bored walking around. From Lulu Lemon to unique-to-Nashville boutiques, your pockets will hurt because the shopping is like nothing else.

The Grand Ole Opry

The Grand Ole Opry is a weekly American country music stage concert in Nashville founded in 1925. It is the longest running radio show in US history.

Dedicated to honoring country music and its history, the Opry showcases a mix of famous singers performing country, bluegrass and folk music as well as comedic performances and skits.

Even though I knew of little to none of the artists preforming at the July 30th broadcast of the Opry, it was still the most awesome atmosphere and experience. I had so much fun learning about the history of the Opry and seeing just how special it was to each of the artists preforming.
