This September, there has been a lot happening in the fashion world. From New York Fashion week to the Met Gala to Fendance in Milan happening just a few days apart, designers have hardly had a chance to catch their breath — but I’m not complaining. Read below for a recap on some of the most memorable moments from a fashion-heavy month.
New York Fashion Week
Fashion week took place in New York City from Wednesday, September 8 to Sunday, September 12. The week consists of a series of days where international fashion collections are shown to buyers, the press, and the public. Fashion week happens in February and September of each year, but the summer/fall fashion week did not come to play. The week was closed out by a show by American designer Tom Ford, and the Met Gala was hosted at the Metropolitan Museum of Art the very next evening. Many well-known models hit the runways during the week, with icons Emily Ratajkowski (wearing Tory Burch), Paris Hilton, Shay Mitchell and more filling the rows of the shows.
Fendi x Versace Runway Collaboration
Something iconic happened in fashion when creative directors Karl Lagerfeld of Fendi and Donatella Versace of Versace got together to create a whole new runway at Milan fashion week in September 2021. It was, as Donatella called it, “history in the making.”
For one night, Versace and Fendi swapped houses to design 25 runway looks for their rival designers. Versace ambassador Dua Lipa opened and closed the show and absolutely stole it. Gigi Hadid, Naomi Campbell, and Kate Moss were some of the most iconic models at the show. This show was unprecedented and will forever be hard to top. Karl Lagerfeld said, “We wanted to do something that was optimistic and fun as we return to live shows. And we wanted to do it because we love each other.”

The Met Gala
The best day of the year, every year. Second, maybe first to Christmas day. But I can’t lie, this year I was a little bit disappointed. It was upsetting not to see some of my favorite faces on the red carpet such as Lady Gaga, Blake Lively, Ariana Grande, Harry Styles, Cardi B, and Kylie Jenner. However, it is obvious that designers worked hard and stayed dedicated to bring the theme “American Fashion” to justice. A$AP Rocky in his grandmothers’ homemade quilt and Timmy Chalamet in sneakers are truly very America. But truly, nothing could ever top Camp in 2019.
